Lake Street Dive have been bouncing around the media circles for the past few months promoting their debut album Bad Self Portraits.  Utilizing the newest reemergence of the soulful jazzy blues sound that has been so successful with bands like The Alabama Shakes, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, and Phox; Lake Street Dive look good and sound even better.  Here is a nice live video of them preforming their song "Just Ask". If you missed the Big Gigantic show last night at Minglewood, I am here to save the day with a little bit of video for you. The show was solid overall. The lighting set up was almost enough for system overload as there were 2 rows of square LED screens and enough light scaffolding to cave the roof in. Both players put on exceptional performances; however, the drummer especially impressed me with his musicianship throughout the show. I also liked how the sax player talked to the audience enough to keep them engaged and keep the energy levels high. I would definitely go see them again!

 

Acoustic Syndicate may not have the best vocals in the game, but these guys can write a damn good song.  The lyrics in "King for a Day" are just perfect.  Check out this exclusive backstage performance from Music on the Mountaintop.

Let's start things off right today with this awesome performance by Shakey Graves.  This Texas based (one man) band is the love child of Alejandro Rose-Garcia.  His first album Roll The Bones is available over at Bandcamp for free (or name your own price if you're feeling generous), so grab it while the getting is good!  Check out "Roll The Bones" preformed live at Trophy's Bar and Grill in Austin, Texas last year.  I dare you not to watch it twice.
